It is with sincere sympathy that Gatlin Mortuary Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Charles Phillips Sr. whom passed away at South Georgia Medical Center on August 5, 2021 We are honored to be selected by his family to serve them with excellence through professional service.
Mr. Charles Phillips Sr. was born June 13, 1954 in Lowndes County Georgia to the late James and Viola Phillips. He received his formal education and graduated from Lowndes High School in 1973.
He was formerly employed with Coca-Cola for over ten years. Charles was later employed by Professional Auctioneers Inc. He served faithfully in his role with the company for close to twenty years.
In his spare time, he could be found fishing with his sons, brothers, and close friends. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He loved to host football and basketball watch parties in his home. He parted this life on August 5, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. In addition to his mother and father he was preceded in death by a brother, James Frank Phillips.
He was the grandson of the late Reverend Shed and Daisy Phillips and Frank and Hattie Johns.
Those left to cherish memory include three sons; Demetrius Phillips (Kanisha), Charles Phillips Jr. (Sheba), and Xavier Phillips (Belinda) all of Valdosta GA; four brothers, Eugene Phillips, Carl Phillips (Doris), Robert Phillips (Gloria), and Jimmy Phillips; three sisters, Erma Daniels, Ruth Wiseman (Sam), Lavone Johnson (King) all of Valdosta Ga. and nine grandchildren, Ronald Carter, Adreanna Phillips, Santana Phillips, Andre Davis, Eric Gholston, Tyrique Everett, CeriganPhillips, Tatyanna Everett, and Zy’geria Phillips, and five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Pallbearers Cemetery at 11 a.m. Pastor Jimmy Boyd will officiate.
