A TIME TO BE BORN: Earl Leon Gaines, affectionately known as “Uncle Ear” by his great niece, was born on October 23,1956 to Mary Gaines Williams and the late Robert “Smoky” Gaines in Jacksonville, FL.
A TIME TO PLANT: Earl was educated in the Duval County School System attending Jacksonville Beach Elementary, #144, Duncan U. Fletcher Junior High School and graduating from Duncan U. Fletcher Senior High School, Class of 1974. His early Christian development and learning was at Second Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville Beach, FL under various ministers and the “Watchful Eyes” of his Mother (Mother Mary Williams) and Grandmother (Loreatha Chatman).
A TIME TO BUILD UP: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” Ecclesiastes 9:10. His employment life was a self- taught Professional Carpet Installer. Earl subcontracted with many Residential and Commercial Contractors.
A TIME TO CHERISH: Earl’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile brought so much joy to his family and friends. His hobbies were fishing and dancing.
A TIME TO DEPART: “Man that is born of a woman is of a few days and is full of trouble.” (Job 14:1). God saw fit to send an angel of death into Earl’s room. His Father, Robert Gaines, Sr.; Bonus Father, Deacon Frank Williams; Grandparents, Rudolph and Loreatha Chatman, Brother, Robert Duffie; brother-in-law, Clarence Hill Jr. and other relatives (uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins) preceded him in death.
A TIME OF BEREAVEMENT: Earl Leon Gaines leaves to cherish his memory, a Son, Earl Leon Gaines, Jr.; a Devoted Mother, Mary Williams; Sisters, Gloria D. Hill and Jennette Fields; Bonus Sister, Frankie Searcy, Nephews, Robert Duffie, Jr. and Haamid Hill; Niece, Aneesah Singleton; Great Niece, Yara Singleton; Faithful Companion (22 years), Ella Lowe and a host of Supportive Family and Blended Family (nieces, uncles, aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins) and Friends
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at The Victory Church @ 11 a.m. Pastor Jay Williams is the Pastor and Pastor Randy Jones will officiate.
