Elaine Wesley

It is with profound sorrow, We the Owners, Management and Staff at Gatlin Mortuary Inc. stand along side the Wesley family as we announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Elaine Wesley,  age 65, who transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday,  January 17, 2021.

On Sunday, January 17th, 2021 the angels were dispatched to embrace the soul of Elaine Gloria Wesley and deliver it tenderly to her heavenly home. Elaine was born on November 9, 1955 in Fairfax, South Carolina to the late Louretha Wesley. She was her mother’s only child.

Gloria, as many affectionately called her, and her mother moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1960. She attended and was educated in the Newark Public School System and graduated from West Side High School in 1973. She and her mom joined and fellowshipped with The Humanity Baptist Church.

Gloria resided in Newark, New Jersey for most of her adult life. Later, she moved to Georgia where she joined The New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher. She worked numerous jobs but of all her jobs, she loved working with children the most. She worked for Children Network Daycare until she retired in 2017. Her love for children was shown in the great care she provided for those at her job as well as the ones she cared for privately in their homes. The families and children cherished her just as much. She also adored knitting, crocheting and she was an awesome cook!

Gloria was a loving daughter, sister and friend. She was willing to help any and every one in need. She never turned her back on anyone. Though her physical presence will be no more, her spirit, love and smiling face will live on forever in the hearts of all those who knew, cherished and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother Louretha Wesley and her stepfather Walter Sibley Jr. also known as Mack.

Those left to cherish Gloria’s loving and precious memories are three sisters: Deloris Belton (Bobby) and Rosa Taylor of Newark, NJ; Ruth Robinson of South Carolina. Three brothers: James, Benny and Dave Robinson Jr. all of South Carolina. Her memory will also be cherished by her devoted cousin/sister and caretaker Sonia Sirmans and her husband Roger; her two favorite little people nephew and niece Dylan and Aisha Brown; her dear friend who she called Roaddog Angeleen Sirmans and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Elaine Wesley, 69- Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Foreman Cemetery in  Stockton, Georgia. Pastor Eddie Curry will officiate
