Evangelist Dorothy James Obituary

It is with sincere sympathy that Gatlin Mortuary Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Dorothy James . We are honored to be selected by her family to serve them with excellence through professional service.   ~Modern Day Services with Traditional Values~

Evangelist Dorothy Lee James was born on January 10, 1964, in Miami, Florida to the late Dorothy and Floyd James. She was one out of twelve children. At the early age of four, she was adopted and raised by the late Lucius and Bonnie Bell Williams.
At a very young age, Dorothy gave her life to Christ. She attended The Church of God Tabernacle True Holiness in Miami, FL. She then moved to Valdosta, Georgia as an early teen. She attended and graduated from Lowndes High School in 1982. After one of her biggest accomplishments, she wanted to further her education back in Miami, FL to follow her dreams in becoming a data processor. She stayed focused and determined and attended Miami Dade Community College, where she received her associate’s degree. After residing in Miami for a few years, she became a mother of two beautiful children. Even though she knew the opportunities there would have been great for her children, she wanted to give them a better environment to be raised in. So, she relocated back to the city that she knew all so well, Valdosta, GA, where she remained. She then became a wonderful mother of four children. She rededicated her life back to Christ and was a true believer ever since.
Remembering Dorothy! She always had a kind, loving and caring heart. She touched so many lives. She was always on a mission to help people, young and old, to learn about our Saviour Jesus Christ. While serving the Lord, she was a missionary to many and became a powerful evangelist. Always willing to go above and beyond on what she was called to do, all the while keeping a smile on her face. As a mother, the love she had for her children was undeniable. She kept them safe, sheltered, and always made sure they would not want for anything. She was that sister, friend, aunt that you can call on and talk to about anything. She never sided, always stood for what was right and spoke her mind, very respectful, and had such a humble spirit.
On September 7, 2021, Evangelist Dorothy Lee James was called home. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorothy and Floyd James; adopted parents, Lucius and Bonnie Bell Williams; late brothers, Floyd James, Jr., Maurice James, and Peter James; and sisters, Valerie James and Cynthia James.
