The pages of life have now been closed, and a chapter has now come to close in the circle of life for The Brown Family: It is at this time that the Owners, Management and Staff at Gatlin Mortuary, Inc. stand alongside this precious family to announce the passing of their beloved:
Mr. Joseph E. Brown, age 58, was born to Gladys Terry and Eugene Brown on September 24, 1957, in Miami, Florida, and was raised in Richmond Heights. He attended Grand Water Miami Killian Senior High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force to proudly serve his country. During his military service, he received an Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three Oak Leaf Cluster, a National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Service stars. Joseph attended NCO Leadership School and GLCM Defense Course; he served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. After retiring from the Air Force in 1994, Joe started his own business, “Two Joes Handy Man Remodeling Repair Service.” Joe touched the hearts of many; he was a good-hearted man, a sweetheart, who would give his last to help a person in need. Joe loved cooking, fishing, spending time with his family, and reminiscing about his childhood with lots of fun stories. He loved talking about his family and friends especially when gathered in the company of others.
Joe transitioned on Sunday, September 24, 2023, and is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Vicky; two children, Nakia and Joseph II; four grandchildren, Erick, Kameron, Jordan, and Princess; along with sisters, Anita (Lewis) Wilhemena, Pam and Veda; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many cherished and loving friends.
Memorial Service Thursday, October 12, 2023, 1:00 PM The Victory Church 1619 North Lee Street Valdosta, Georgia - Pastor is Jay Williams, however Minister Micheal Johnson will officiate.
