Sylvester Jerome “Hundley” Bines, Sr., departed this life on July 3, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1972, in Valdosta, Georgia. He was the son of the late Sylvester Smith, Sr., and Lueverne Bines. Hundley was educated in the Valdosta City school system. He was a very hardworking, kindhearted man. You could always find him repairing something. Hundley worked diligently in logging until his health declined. Hundley accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2017, under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Alex Bunion at The Church at Pine Hill. He loved his family, church family, and friends with a gentle and loving spirit. Hundley was preceded in death by his fathers, Sylvester Smith, Sr., and Frank Hundley, Sr. Hundley leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving companion and care giver, Melissa Lane; two sons, Sylvester Bines, Jr., and Savante Bines; and five daughters, Rayshundra (Reginald) Scott, Zatoria Bines, Alexis Bines, Kimberly Brown, and Shaterria Bradley, all of Valdosta, GA. He also leaves his mothers, Lueverne Bines and Williean Hundley, and his stepmother, Bertha Troy, all of Valdosta, GA. Memories are also held by Hundley’s five brothers and three sisters, Frank (Angela) Huntley, Jr., Anthony Bines, Gerald Bines (of Valdosta, GA), Sylvester Smith, Jr., and Adrian Smith (of Augusta, GA), Gwen (Lavell) Lewis, Sherelda Floyd, and Courtney Berrian (of Valdosta, GA). He leaves three loving grandchildren, Jaylen Bines, Nyla Howell, and Amir Sims (of Valdosta, GA). Hundley also leaves his favorite uncle, Robert Smith, and very devoted friends, Ivan Davis, Freeman McGowan, Hazel White, and Oscar Marshall. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his memory. Special thanks to Dwight McLeish and Dr. Larry E. Smith.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Southview Cemetery @ 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Friday from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
